With these planes, D.A.W. has revisited familiar ground in the realm of small scale PSS (Power Slope Scale) ships. Like their big brothers, our Foamie Combat Warbirds, they're semi-scale, formulized representations of the prototype airframes that have been optimized for slope aerobatics and bungee launching. Part of our design specification was to allow for use of larger capacity batteries, and mid-sized servos. With larger 270 to 350 mah batteries, longer endurance per charge is realized, and the recommended Hitec HS-80 style servos used for the standard two-servo setup offer the toughness necessary for hard use without constant maintenance. Any of the models can also be built in a three-servo, flaperon version utilizing the smaller HS-50 style servos in the wing and an HS-80 for elevator. With easy access to the wing servos in this configuration, their more delicate drive trains are less of a chore to perform maintenance on. Complete instructions and drawings are included in the manual for either configuration. The recommended receiver is the Hitec 555 (the 535 can also be employed) with the case removed. Overall construction methods are classic D.A.W., so if you're already familiar with our kits, then these will present no surprises. These little devils are just what the doctor ordered for travel, lunchbreak or wilderness flying, as they're small enough to keep in the trunk of the car or strap to your backpack or mountain bike (or 'trekking' if you're German). Flight performance in moderate to heavy lift is quick, responsive and light on the sticks with excellent inverted performance. Skilled PSS fliers will also enjoy the gentle stall and wide speed range for testing lighter conditions. No wind? No problem! If you've got 20 feet of standard class highstart rubber and some towrings, you're ready for ballistic bungee action with launches that can take them to the edge of visibility... sounds pretty fun, eh?
